West-end Toronto’s Hip Hood – The Junction
Toronto’s west end has one of the coolest neighbourhoods that is packed with personality plus!
The Junction is found within a historic district just north of High Park and east of the Junction Triangle. Tree-lined streets wind throughout the Junction and just north of Annette street is found some of the most interesting architecture within the city. Here you can find red brick Victorians, Arts and Craft homes, Queen Anne styles and examples of turrets, decorative archways and porches from yesteryear. The homes closer to Dundas are simpler in style, since these originated with the labourers that moved into the area to work on the railway.
This area has attracted artistic types, urban professionals, young families, and long-standing locals.
Dundas Street West is the heart of the Junction and is alive with some of the best eateries, design shops, bars, and boutiques. Here you can choose from design at Mjolk, groceries at Sweet Potatoe, Annette Food Market, fish at Honest Weight, tapas at Blua, drinks at Hole in the Wall, live entertainment at The Cellar, Indian at Curry Twist, Italian at Nodo, Mexican at Playa Cabana. Farmhouse Tavern, Junction Brewery and The Junction Local are also amongst the favourites in the hood. Another cool spot is called Rod, Gun & Barbers where men can grab a drink, smoke a Cuban cigar, and get a trim!
Transit within this area is well connected, with proximity to the Bloor-Danforth line, making it easy to get around the city!
Inventory has been low within this area, much the same as throughout most of Toronto’s neighbourhoods. This year saw detached properties selling between $1,260,000 to $1,945,000 and semi-detached properties selling from $1,020,000 to $1,925,000. The differences in price accounted for the location and degree of renovations done. Sold prices are similar to the prices seen in 2021, when detached homes sold in the same time period went from $$1,350,000 to $2,475,000 and semi’s sold from $955,000 to $1,200,000.
With prices adjusting and a different climate out there for buying and selling, it’s still an ideal time to look for a new place to call home, with all the right steps in place. Inventory for this area is still very low and working with a seasoned agent will help you navigate the process!
